For collecting video testimonials, VideoAsk is the better fit of the two, because your customer records an answer to your question in the browser and it lands in your account. Loom is built the other way around: the person with the Loom recorder makes the video and sends you a link. VideoAsk starts at $30 a month for 100 processing minutes, Loom Business at $18 per user a month. Neither was designed as testimonial software, and both meter something you will feel at volume.

People search VideoAsk vs Loom because both put a camera in front of someone asynchronously and both have a free tier. The comparison sites that rank for it score them as general video tools. This page scores them on one job only: getting a customer to record a short testimonial you can publish. Prices below were read from each vendor's own pricing data in September 2026.

Can you use Loom for video testimonials?

You can, but it puts the work on your customer. With Loom, the customer has to open a Loom recorder, record, and send you the share link. The video lives in their Loom library, not yours, so you depend on them to allow downloads or keep the link alive. There is no question prompt, no consent step and no place where submissions from twenty customers collect side by side.

Where Loom genuinely helps is on your side of the ask. A 40 second personal Loom from the founder, saying thank you and explaining what a testimonial would involve, gets far more replies than a template email. Plenty of teams use Loom to make the request and something else to receive the answer. That split is sensible, and it means Loom is a request tool here, not a collection tool.

Is VideoAsk good for collecting testimonials?

It is the closer fit. You record a question, send a link, and the customer answers on camera in the browser without creating an account. Answers arrive in one inbox, you can add a text question for their name and role, and conditional logic lets you route happy customers to the video step and unhappy ones to a private feedback field.

The catch is the meter. VideoAsk counts processing minutes whenever video or audio is generated, by you or by the respondent, and the monthly counter resets with no rollover. Playback is free. A testimonial program where your intro video runs 45 seconds and each customer answers for 90 seconds uses more than two minutes per completed testimonial before anyone re-records.

VideoAsk Start$0$020 processing minutes a month, VideoAsk branded
VideoAsk Grow$30$288 ($24 a month)100 processing minutes a month, 5 users
VideoAsk Brand$50$480 ($40 a month)200 processing minutes a month, 10 users, your own branding
VideoAsk minute add-ons$67 to $344$648 to $3,312350 to 2,000 minutes a month on top of Brand
Loom Starter$0$025 videos per person, 5 minute recordings
Loom Business$18 per userUp to 17% offUnlimited videos and recording time
Loom Business + AI$24 per userUp to 17% offAdds AI editing and summaries

VideoAsk's yearly toggle shows 1,200 minutes on Grow. That figure is the monthly allowance times twelve for display; the plan data sets 100 minutes a month on both billing intervals, so an annual plan does not give you a pool to spend in a busy quarter. We walk through the tiers and what a real program burns in VideoAsk pricing.

Loom's price looks lower, but it is per seat and it buys the wrong thing. Paying for Loom Business does nothing for the customer who has to record. If your customers are on the free Starter plan, they are the ones capped at 25 videos and 5 minute recordings, and you have no control over that.

What does a testimonial program cost on each?

Take a realistic small program: 15 customer videos a month, a 45 second intro, answers averaging 90 seconds, and one retake in three. That is roughly 45 to 50 processing minutes a month on VideoAsk once re-records are counted, which fits Grow at $288 a year. Double the program to 30 videos and you are near 100 minutes, the edge of Grow, and one enthusiastic three minute answer pushes you toward Brand at $480 a year.

On Loom the software bill can be zero, because the customer records on their own free account. The cost moves to your team's time: chasing links, downloading files, asking for permission in a separate email and storing it somewhere. For three or four testimonials a year that is fine. For a program it breaks down around the tenth customer.

VideoAsk's range is its strength and its distraction. A lot of teams buy it for one-way video screening of job candidates, and if that is really the job, a dedicated AI interview screening tool fits it better than a general video form. For testimonials, most of that range goes unused while the minute meter keeps running.

What you still need after either tool

Both tools end at a video file or a link. A testimonial you can publish needs three more things: the customer's permission for that exact clip, an approval step so you choose what goes live, and somewhere on your site to show it. Under the FTC's Endorsement Guides an endorsement may not be presented out of context or reworded so as to distort the customer's opinion, so the consent should travel with the specific recording, not sit in a separate email thread.

That gap is what testimonial software closes. With video testimonial software built for the job, the customer clicks one link, records or writes in the browser without an account, and consent is stored with the submission. You approve it and it appears on a Wall of Love embedded with one line of code. Our plans never meter video minutes or responses, and Studio includes unlimited team seats, so a busy quarter costs the same as a quiet one; see pricing.

If you are still deciding what to ask, a short set of prompts beats a script; our video testimonial script guide has four to six that work. And if VideoAsk is the tool you are replacing, the VideoAsk alternative page compares the two products line by line. VideoAsk and Loom both change their plans, so confirm current prices on their pricing pages before you buy.
