DIVI - SLIDER AND CAROUSEL

Divi Testimonial Slider: Add a Testimonial Module or Carousel to Divi Without a Marketplace Plugin

Divi includes a Testimonial module, and it renders a single testimonial. There is no native testimonial slider and no native testimonial carousel in Divi, which is why almost everyone searching for one ends up in the Divi Marketplace. Here is what the built in module does, what a carousel actually costs you, and the storage problem that outlives both.

In short

Divi has a Testimonial module and it is included with Divi at no extra cost, but it displays one testimonial: a portrait, the quote body, the author name, a job title, a company and an optional company link. Elegant Themes documents no carousel, slider or rotation option for it, and no video option either, since the only video setting on the module is a background video. So the thing most people are searching for, a Divi testimonial slider that rotates through several quotes, does not exist natively at any Divi price. The usual routes are a premium Divi Marketplace module such as the Testimonial Slider by Divi Pixel, a third party plugin like Divi Plus or Divi Supreme, or bending the generic Divi Slider module into testimonial duty by hand. All three leave the harder half untouched. None of them collects the testimonial from your customer, and none of them records video. You still write the email, wait, chase, then retype the quote, the name and the role into a module field. There is also a storage trap specific to Divi that only shows up when you leave. In Divi 4 every testimonial you typed is an et_pb_testimonial shortcode sitting in the post content of that page, so switching themes turns your quotes into visible shortcode text on the live site. Divi 5, which exited beta on February 26, 2026, moved off shortcodes, and Elegant Themes states that if you build with Divi 5 and then switch to a new theme or builder you start with a blank slate instead. Read those two sentences together: Divi 4 loses your testimonials loudly and Divi 5 loses them quietly. Neither one hands them to you. Testimonials keeps the proof outside WordPress. One request link collects written and video testimonials with no login for the customer, consent is recorded with the words, and one line of embed code renders a slider, carousel, wall or single quote inside any Divi Code module. Approve a new testimonial once and every Divi page carrying that embed updates at the same time.

§ CAPABILITY

What you get

Divi testimonials that founders, agencies, and SaaS teams can put live in minutes

A real slider, without a marketplace purchase

Divi has no native testimonial carousel, so a rotating slider normally means buying a third party module. Here it is a layout setting: slider, carousel, grid or single quote, on any Divi license.

Your testimonials outlive the theme

Quotes typed into a Divi module live in that page. Kept outside WordPress, the same proof survives a Divi 4 to Divi 5 migration, a theme change, and a full rebuild.

Video testimonials, recorded in the browser

No Divi testimonial module takes video. Customers record from a phone or laptop through the request link, and the clips sit in the same wall as the written quotes.

One Code module, nothing installed

Nothing added to WordPress, nothing to update when Divi ships a release, no marketplace module to migrate off later. Paste one line into a Divi Code module and it renders.

§ 4 STEPS

How it works

From one request link to embedded proof in four steps

01

Send one request link

Share a single link by email or text. Your customer writes a testimonial or records a video in the browser, with no account and nothing to install.

02

Approve what you want to use

Every submission arrives with the name, role and consent record attached. Publish the ones you want and leave the rest.

03

Choose the layout

Slider, carousel, wall or single quote, styled to your Divi fonts, colors and corner radius so it does not read as bolted on.

04

Paste it into a Divi Code module

Drop a Code module onto the page, paste one line, save. The same snippet works in any section, row, Theme Builder template or global module.

Every plan mixes video testimonials and written quotes in one Wall of Love, and you embed it anywhere with a lightweight testimonial widget.

§ DETAIL

In depth

What the Divi testimonial module actually does, and where it stops

The Divi Testimonial module renders one testimonial, and that is the whole feature

Worth being exact here, because the search volume for divi testimonial slider and divi testimonial carousel suggests most people assume otherwise. Elegant Themes own documentation for the Testimonial module lists the content fields as the author name, job title, company, the body of the quote and a portrait image, plus a company link URL and a toggle for the quote icon. The rest of the settings are styling: quote icon color, image dimensions and borders, text styling for the body, author, position and company, then the usual sizing, spacing and shadow controls.

What the documentation does not contain is any mention of a carousel, a slider, rotation, or displaying more than one testimonial in a single module. It also has no video field. The only video setting on the module is a background video, which is a decorative background behind the quote rather than a customer recording. Checked August 2026.

Two honest notes before going further. If you have four testimonials that will never change and you are happy stacking four Testimonial modules in a row, Divi already does that and you should not pay anybody anything. And if all you want is the rotating layout, a freemium module pack will hand you a carousel without a marketplace purchase. Those are real answers.

The common ceiling is the same across every row above. Not one of them does anything about getting the testimonial out of the customer in the first place, and that is the part that is actually hard.

Divi 4 loses your testimonials loudly, Divi 5 loses them quietly

This is the part almost nobody writes about, and it is the one that costs real money later. It is also newly relevant, because Divi 5 exited beta on February 26, 2026 and changed the mechanism underneath.

In Divi 4, a testimonial you typed into the module is stored as a shortcode. The module becomes an et_pb_testimonial shortcode written into the post content of that page, alongside every other module on it. While Divi is active, WordPress renders the shortcode and you see a testimonial. The moment Divi is not active, nothing is registered to render it, and the raw shortcode text appears on the live page instead. A site with testimonials across a home page, a pricing page and three landing pages does not degrade gracefully. It shows your visitors bracketed markup where your social proof used to be, and cleaning it up means either editing every page by hand or running a find and replace across the posts table.

Divi 5 fixed this, and the fix is worth understanding precisely. Elegant Themes describes the change as the removal of shortcodes and a migration towards a more modern storage format that aligns with the future of WordPress. On what happens when you leave, their wording is direct: if you build your website with Divi 5, and then switch to a new theme or builder, you will start with a blank slate instead of with unwanted shortcodes in the post content.

Read that carefully, because it is genuinely good news about migration and it is not good news about your testimonials. A blank slate is a cleaner outcome than shortcode debris. It is still a blank slate. The quotes, the names, the job titles and the portraits you entered one at a time do not come with you either way. Divi 4 turns your testimonials into garbage on the page and Divi 5 makes them disappear cleanly, and neither version hands them back to you in a form you can reuse.

The same thing is true of every page builder, which is the argument we make on the WordPress testimonial plugin page, and in a slightly different shape on the Elementor testimonial widget page, where quotes live in the Elementor data rather than in shortcodes. There is a partial fix inside WordPress: register a testimonials custom post type and pull it into Divi with a dynamic module, which is what tools like Divi Machine and ACF exist for. That genuinely solves duplication across pages. It does not solve collection, it does not solve video, and it adds plugins to keep updated. Weigh it honestly against keeping the testimonials outside WordPress and embedding them, where one edit reaches every page and a rebuild in three years does not touch them.

What Divi costs, and what a testimonial carousel costs on top

Divi pricing is unusual in a way that matters here, and it is worth stating plainly rather than steering around it. These figures are on the Elegant Themes pricing page in text, checked August 2026, and they change, so confirm before you buy.

PlanPriceSitesIncludes a testimonial carousel?
Divi yearly$89 billed yearly ($7.42 a month)Unlimited website usageNo. Single testimonial module only
Divi lifetime$249, one time paymentUnlimited website usageNo
Divi Pro yearly$277 billed yearlyUnlimitedNo. Pro adds services such as Divi AI, Cloud, VIP and Teams
Divi lifetime plus Pro$297 today, then $212 a year for the Pro servicesUnlimitedNo

Two things follow from that table. The first is a genuine compliment to Divi: unlimited sites for $89 a year, or $249 once, is a lot of page builder for the money, and if you run client sites the lifetime license is often simply the correct purchase. We are not going to pretend otherwise to sell a subscription.

The second is the part the pricing page does not tell you. None of those four rows includes a testimonial carousel. The most expensive Divi plan on the list gives you the same single testimonial module as the cheapest one. A rotating slider is a separate purchase from the Divi Marketplace or a third party developer, on top of whichever plan you already bought, and it is a second vendor to keep updated through Divi releases. That is the real comparison to make: not Divi against a testimonial tool, but Divi plus a marketplace module against Divi plus an embed that also does the collecting.

If you are weighing tools rather than plans, the wider comparison is on best testimonial software, and the question of what a free option actually costs is worked through in free versus paid testimonial software.

Why your Divi testimonial slider is not working

Divi 4 and Divi 5 running side by side in the wild has made this messier than it used to be, so the order below reflects what is most often actually wrong in 2026.

SymptomUsual causeFix
A third party testimonial module vanished after updating DiviThe module pack has not shipped Divi 5 compatibility yet. Divi 4 modules do not automatically carry overCheck the developer changelog for Divi 5 support before updating, not after. Roll back if the site is live
Slides stack vertically instead of rotatingThe slider JavaScript did not load, usually a conflict with another plugin bundling its own slider library, or a JS error earlier on the pageOpen the browser console and read the first error. Deactivate slider plugins one at a time
It looks right in the Visual Builder, wrong on the live pageDivi static CSS or a page cache serving a stale fileClear the page cache, then Divi then Theme Options then Builder then Advanced and clear the static CSS file
Raw text like et_pb_testimonial showing on the pageDivi is deactivated, switched, or the shortcode was pasted somewhere Divi does not parseReactivate Divi to recover the page, then read the storage section above before you migrate
Arrows or dots missing, slides overlapping or cut offTheme or row CSS overriding the slider container height or overflowInspect the container and look for an overflow or height rule inherited from the row
Autoplay stops after one passLoop is off, or the slider initialized at zero width inside a hidden tab or toggleTurn loop on. If it lives in a tab or accordion, initialize it while visible

The pattern behind most of these is that a carousel is a JavaScript component sharing a page with your theme, your builder and every plugin you run, so it inherits every conflict on the site and every builder version change. A self contained embed sidesteps most of that, because it is not competing for the same slider library and it renders the same in the builder and on the live page. The performance side of that trade, including which Core Web Vital actually breaks, is measured in testimonial widgets and Core Web Vitals.

Taking a testimonial down is harder in Divi than putting one up

Publishing is the easy direction. Everyone plans for it. The direction nobody plans for is removal, and in a page builder it is genuinely awkward.

A customer can ask you to stop using their testimonial. People change jobs, sell the company, fall out with you, or simply change their mind, and an endorsement you no longer have permission to run is a problem you want to be able to fix in one move. In Divi, the same quote typically sits on your home page, your pricing page, a couple of campaign landing pages and possibly a Theme Builder footer template. Each of those is an independent copy that you typed separately. Removal means remembering every place you pasted it, which is a memory test you will fail somewhere around the second year.

The retyping step invites a second problem worth naming. You have the customer email open and a module field to fill. The quote runs long for the slide, so you trim it. A qualifying clause muddies the point, so it goes. Two sentences from different paragraphs read better joined, so you join them. Then you wrap the result in quotation marks, because that is what a testimonial looks like.

The Federal Trade Commission Endorsement Guides at 16 CFR 255.1(b) say an endorsement may not be presented out of context or reworded so as to distort in any way the endorser opinion or experience, and that an advertisement need not present the message in the exact words of the endorser unless the advertisement represents that it is presenting the endorser exact words, such as through the use of quotation marks. Quotation marks raise the standard you are held to. The edits above are the ordinary, well meant ones anybody makes in a builder field at the end of the day, and once they are made there is no record anywhere of what the customer originally wrote.

Keeping the original submission with a timestamp and the consent attached is not a legal service and it guarantees nothing. It means the original exists, and that taking a testimonial down is one action rather than an archaeology exercise across your Divi pages. Which edits are safe and which are not is worked through in the testimonial release form guide, and the federal rules generally are in FTC testimonial rules.

How to actually get the testimonials you are about to display

Everything above concerns the display half, because a module is a display thing. The reason so many Divi sites carry the same three testimonials for two years is the other half: asking is uncomfortable, the customer means to reply and forgets, and chasing feels like begging.

What moves the response rate is taking the work off the customer. An email asking would you mind writing us a testimonial asks a busy person to open a blank page and compose marketing copy about you, which is why it sits unanswered. A link that opens three specific questions they can answer in writing or by hitting record gets finished in about two minutes, with no account to create. The mechanics are on collect testimonials, the questions that produce a usable answer are on testimonial form, and the wording of the ask is in how to ask for a testimonial.

One Divi specific layout note, since you are already thinking in sections and rows. A slider earns its place in a tight homepage strip where you have one row of vertical space and a lot of quotes. On a pricing page, where somebody is actively hesitating, a rotating carousel hides most of your proof behind a control almost nobody clicks, and a full wall of testimonials does more work, because the sheer quantity is itself the argument. Use both, from one source, and put the testimonial that answers a specific objection on the page where buyers have that objection.

If Divi is one of several sites you maintain, the same embed renders in Webflow, Squarespace, Wix and Framer, which means one library of approved testimonials across every property instead of a separate copy retyped into each builder.

§ ANSWERS

Frequently asked

divi testimonial slider: the questions people actually ask

Does Divi have a testimonial slider?

Not natively. Divi includes a Testimonial module, but it renders a single testimonial and Elegant Themes documentation lists no carousel, slider or rotation option for it. To get a rotating Divi testimonial slider you either buy a premium module such as the Testimonial Slider by Divi Pixel from the Divi Marketplace, install a third party module pack, bend the generic Divi Slider module into testimonial duty by hand, or embed a slider from outside WordPress.

Is there a free Divi testimonial carousel?

There is no free native one, because there is no native one at all. The Divi Testimonial module is included with every Divi license and shows one testimonial. Several third party module packs for Divi are freemium and include a testimonial carousel in their free tier, which is the usual free route. You can also stack multiple Testimonial modules in a row, which is free but does not rotate.

What does the Divi Testimonial module include?

The author name, job title, company, the body of the quote and a portrait image, plus an optional company link URL and a toggle for the quote icon. Everything else is styling: quote icon color, image sizing and borders, text options for the body, author, position and company, and the usual spacing, border and shadow controls. There is no video field. The only video setting is a decorative background video.

Can I add video testimonials in Divi?

Not through the testimonial module, which takes an image and text only. A video testimonial in Divi means your customer films it, uploads it to YouTube or Vimeo, sends you the link, and you point a separate Divi video module at it. Most video testimonial programs die at that upload step. Recording in the browser through a request link removes it, and the clips appear in the same wall as your written quotes.

What happens to my Divi testimonials if I change themes?

It depends which Divi you built on, and neither answer is that they survive. In Divi 4 each testimonial is an et_pb_testimonial shortcode stored in the post content, so switching away leaves raw shortcode text visible on the live page. Divi 5 moved off shortcodes, and Elegant Themes states that if you build with Divi 5 and then switch to a new theme or builder you start with a blank slate instead. Testimonials kept outside WordPress are unaffected either way.

How much does Divi cost?

The Elegant Themes pricing page lists Divi at $89 billed yearly, or $249 as a one time lifetime payment, both with unlimited website usage. Divi Pro is $277 billed yearly and adds services such as Divi AI, Divi Cloud, Divi VIP and Divi Teams, and a lifetime plus Pro option is listed at $297 today plus $212 a year for the Pro services. Checked August 2026. None of these plans includes a testimonial carousel.

Do I need a plugin to add a testimonial slider to Divi?

No. Divi has a Code module, so one line of embed code renders a testimonial slider, carousel, wall or single quote on any page, row, global module or Theme Builder template without installing anything in WordPress. That means no marketplace module to buy, nothing to update when Divi ships a release, and nothing to migrate off later. The same snippet also works in Gutenberg, Elementor, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify and plain HTML.

Will my third party Divi testimonial module work with Divi 5?

Only if its developer has shipped Divi 5 support. Divi 5 exited beta on February 26, 2026 and rebuilt the module architecture away from shortcodes, so third party modules written for Divi 4 do not automatically carry over and some vanish from the builder after the update. Check the developer changelog for confirmed Divi 5 compatibility before you update a live site, and roll back if a module you depend on is not listed.
